Why I Built It
A lot of geography games are either behind a subscription or so slow that you learn one country a minute. I wanted the opposite: something quick enough to play on a phone while the kettle boils, free for students and teachers, and built so that you actually remember what you learned.
DodoThinks went live in June 2026 as a simple guess-the-flag game. It has since grown into more than 30 games and quizzes, a 3D globe you can fill in from memory, printable maps, a page for every country and a blog about flags, maps and how to learn them.
The idea behind every game is the same: a short round, one question at a time, and a timer that makes you recall the answer instead of recognising it. That is what makes a flag or a capital stick.

A bit of geography in the name: the dodo lived on just one island, Mauritius, in the Indian Ocean, and vanished in the late 1600s.

How It Stays Free
Every game is free, with no paywall and no premium tier. You don't need an account to play. Signing in with Google only saves your scores and puts you on the leaderboard.
The hosting is paid for by visitors who buy a coffee and by advertising. Analytics and ad cookies only run if you allow them, and the privacy policy explains exactly what is collected.
Where the Facts Come From
- Countries: the list follows the United Nations, with its 193 member states plus the two observer states, Vatican City and Palestine, for 195 in total. Why 195?
- Maps: country outlines and borders are drawn from Natural Earth, a free, public domain map dataset used by cartographers around the world.
- Flags: flag images come from flag-icons, an open source collection of every country's flag.
Geography changes and mistakes happen. If you spot a wrong flag, capital or fact, let me know and I'll fix it. The editorial standards explain how facts are checked and corrected.
