How to Play the quiz
- Click any river, mountain range, desert, sea or lake to see its name before you start.
- Pick a round: Rivers (12), Mountains & plains (9) or Seas & lakes (7). A name appears and you click it on the map. Whole map asks all 28 once each.
- Rivers are thin lines, so a click on or just beside the line counts. On a phone, a tap where several features meet opens a magnifier; tap the right one inside it.
- After every answer the right place turns green, so a wrong click still shows you where it is.
The Amazon and its tributaries
The Amazon carries more water than any other river, about a fifth of all the fresh water that rivers pour into the oceans. Its great tributaries are rivers in their own right: the Negro joins at Manaus, where its black water runs beside the Amazon's brown for kilometres; the Madeira, Purus, Tapajós and Xingu come in from the south.
The Andes and the Atacama
The Andes are the longest mountain range on land, about 7,000 km, with Aconcagua (6,961 m) in Argentina the highest peak outside Asia. On their western side the Atacama Desert in Chile is the driest non-polar place on Earth. High in the Andes, Lake Titicaca on the Peru–Bolivia border lies at 3,812 m.
