UK, Great Britain or England?
England is one of the four countries of the United Kingdom. Great Britain is the island with England, Scotland and Wales. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland adds Northern Ireland. The Isle of Man and the Channel Islands are Crown Dependencies, not part of the UK, so they are not on the map.
The regions of England
England is divided into nine regions, used for statistics and planning: the North East, North West, Yorkshire and the Humber, East Midlands, West Midlands, East of England, London, South East and South West. The South East has the most people, about 9.7 million; the North East the fewest, about 2.8 million.
