Our map of the Arab world is one of the most visited pages on DodoThinks. It shows the 22 member states of the Arab League, from Mauritania on the Atlantic to Oman on the Arabian Sea, and asks you to click each one on a blank map.

Players have answered 2,085 questions on it since late September 2026, with 68% right. That makes it easier than the full map of Africa or Asia, but some countries are missed again and again.

Comoros

Comoros is by far the hardest country on this map. It is a group of small islands in the Indian Ocean, between Mozambique and Madagascar, and it joined the Arab League in 1993. Most players looked for it near the Horn of Africa, clicking Somalia, Yemen and Djibouti. That is the right ocean but well over 1,500 kilometres too far north.

The eastern Mediterranean

Lebanon went to Syria 13 times, and Palestine went to Jordan, Egypt and Lebanon. These countries are small and close together. From north to south along the coast: Syria, then Lebanon, then Israel and Palestine, with Egypt's Sinai below. Jordan is inland, east of the West Bank, with no Mediterranean coast.

The Gulf

Bahrain is a small island country off the east coast of Saudi Arabia, right beside Qatar, which is why 10 players clicked Qatar instead. Qatar is the peninsula sticking up into the Gulf; Bahrain is the island just to its west.

The UAE went to Oman 8 times. The UAE is at the southern end of the Gulf, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi on its coast. Oman is the larger country wrapping around the south-east corner of the Arabian Peninsula, and it also owns the tip of the Musandam peninsula, which is separated from the rest of Oman by the UAE.

Africa and Asia

The 22 Arab countries are split between two continents:

  • In Africa (10): Egypt, Sudan, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Mauritania, Somalia, Djibouti and Comoros.
  • In Asia (12): Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine.

Algeria is the largest by area, and Bahrain the smallest.
