The classic patterns

Most national flags use a few layouts: three bands (France and Italy vertical, Germany and Russia horizontal), a Nordic cross (Denmark, Sweden, Finland), a disc (Japan, Bangladesh), a triangle at the pole (Czechia, the Philippines, Cuba), a canton in the top corner (the United States, Malaysia, Greece) or a diagonal (Tanzania, the Republic of the Congo).

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use the flag I make?

Yes. It is your design: download it and use it as you like. Country flags you start from belong to their countries.

What is the difference between SVG and PNG?

An SVG is drawn with shapes, so it stays sharp at any size and can be edited. A PNG is a picture, 1200 × 900 pixels, ready to share or put in a document.

Why is the flag 4:3?

It is the shape of the flag images used across the site. Many real flags are 3:2 or 2:1; the 4:3 shape keeps every country in the same frame.
