How to Play the Philippines Regions Map Quiz
- Before you start, tap any region to see its name, or press "Show names" to label them all.
- Pick a round: Regions names each region, Provinces names one of the 82 provinces and you click its region, Cities names one of 55 cities, and Whole map asks all 18.
- Click the right region. Metro Manila is small, so it has a ring around it that counts as a click.
- After each answer the right region lights up, so a mistake still teaches you where it is.
How many regions are in the Philippines?
There are 18 regions. The newest is the Negros Island Region, made in 2024 from Negros Occidental (from Western Visayas), Negros Oriental and Siquijor (from Central Visayas). Regions are used for planning and government offices; the 82 provinces and the cities are the local governments. Only Bangsamoro (BARMM) has its own regional government.
In 2024 the Supreme Court ruled that Sulu is not part of BARMM, because the province voted against joining in 2019. A 2025 executive order placed Sulu in the Zamboanga Peninsula, as this map shows.
