Slovenia vs Slovakia Flag
Both flags are white, blue and red across with a coat of arms near the flagpole. Slovakia's shield is big, a white double cross on three blue hills, and reaches down into the red. Slovenia's is small, in the top corner: the white peaks of Mount Triglav under three yellow stars.

Why they look alike
White, blue and red are the Slavic colours, used by several Slavic countries since the 19th century. Slovenia adopted its flag at independence in 1991, and Slovakia its present flag in 1992, just before it split from the Czech Republic. The names are close too, which does not help.
How to tell them apart
Look at the shield. Big and in the middle of the height: Slovakia. Small and up in the corner: Slovenia.
